WHAT INGREDIENTS GO INTO A BEARD BALM?
Typically a beard balm is made up of a blend of waxes, butters, carrier and essential oils. The waxes provides a natural hold for the beard, while the butters and oils moisturise and condition the hair and skin underneath, preventing dryness, itchiness, and irritation. Essential oils are often added to provide a pleasing scent and additional therapeutic benefits, such as soothing inflammation and promoting hair growth.
HOW DO I USE A BEARD OIL AND BEARD BALM KIT?
Beard oil and beard balm can be used together or separately to achieve and maximise results. Beard oil is best applied after a shower once the beard is towel dried. It works to soften the beard, prevent beard itch, moisturise the skin removing dandruff (also known as beardruff) and promotes healthier beard growth. Beard Balm can be applied over the beard post applying beard oil to add extra conditioning and softening properties, but will also provide a light hold for flyaways. Beard balm is also best applied in dry beards when you're not using beard oil. The waxes, butters and oils absorb easily leaving no greasy residue. This makes it an ideal product if you're running out the door and don't have time to shower or wash your beard.
WHAT DOES BEARD OIL DO?
Beard oil is a grooming product used to moisturise and nourish the skin underneath a beard, as well as to soften and condition the beard hair itself. It can help prevent itching, flaking, and dandruff, and can also add shine and control to the beard. You should read our blog about what beard oil does.
SHOULD YOU WASH YOUR BEARD AFTER USING BEARD OIL AND BEARD BALM?
It is not necessary to wash your beard immediately after using beard oil and beard balm. In fact, washing your beard too often can strip away the natural oils and moisture that your beard needs to stay healthy and soft. However, if you feel that your beard is too oily or greasy after applying oil and balm, you can wash it with a gentle beard shampoo. It's best to wait a few hours after applying the products to allow them to fully absorb into your beard before washing it. Alternatively, you can simply rinse your beard with warm water to remove any excess oil or balm, and then gently pat it dry with a towel. This can help to remove any buildup without stripping away too much moisture. Ultimately, the decision to wash your beard after using beard oil and balm depends on your personal preference and the needs of your beard. It's important to find a routine that works for you and your beard's unique needs. Read more on our blog about how often you should wash your beard.
