Why use our body scrub
Over the past few months you may have seen our Activated Charcoal & Bamboo Body Scrub popping up. Many of you have tried it with some amazing results, and some of you may have hesitated to try. You were probably expecting us to release a beard balm, but instead we left you with some jet-black, extra gritty gel full of miracle ingredients. We’re sorry to disappoint.
If you’ve been thinking of trying it out, we urge you to resist and first know the 4 reasons why you shouldn’t bother.
1. It will leave your skin extra clean and super smooth.
Who wants smooth clean skin anyway? Personally I prefer my skin to be dry, flaky, riddled with ingrown hairs, bumps and acne. This scrub contains medicinal grade Activated Charcoal which absorbs dirt and bacteria from the skin, holding up to 1000 times it’s own weight. Although it’s the perfect ingredient to fight sweat pimples after a good training session at the gym, you probably should just let those bumps be. Who wants to look and feel good about themselves anyway?
2. It contains NO MICROBEADS.
Our scrub contains NO microbeads, so if you like blocking up the waterways and murdering our marine life, our scrub isn’t for you. You’re best off buying those $5 scrubs from the grocery store full of ‘premium’ ingredients. Instead of microbeads we use Bamboo Stem Extract which contains 70% more silica than it’s alternatives. Silica repairs tissue and promotes collagen elasticity, so it’s great at targeting skin conditions like acne and scars. Our scrub is very rough, so it’s actually strong enough to buff away the roughest skin, unlike many scrubs which put minimal exfoliants in to save costs.
A SERIOUS NOTE: Recently The Guardian released an article outlining some brands that still use microbeads and the impact they’re having on the environment. Companies who choose to use microbeads know exactly the impact these ingredients have on the environment, but choose to because it’s a cheap alternative. I personally have seen companies get caught out by their customers and then say they have become aware of this and are now changing to eliminate microbeads, which to me means they didn’t take the environment into account from the day they formulated. If you’re unsure, check the ingredients list and avoid products that contain polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and nylon.
Why do companies use them?
It’s simple. Microbeads are much cheaper than their natural alternatives and are smooth enough to use daily, therefore you go through more product compared to the natural alternative you only need to use once or twice a week. Are you actually saving in the long run?
3. It’s natural.
Our scrub contains no PEG’s, Parabens, Phthalates, Sulphates, Silicones, DEA, TEA, glycols or mineral oils. It does however, contain Argan and Jojoba oil though to keep the skin hydrated and moisturised, unlike many sulphate based gel scrubs that leave you itchy and your skin drier than before.
What’s the big deal anyway? Who cares if it’s natural or not? You might as well wash your skin with petrol thinners.
4. Our scrub isn’t tested on animals.
Our scrub ISN’T tested on animals, so we don’t know if it will be suitable for your skin. Apparently in 2016 it’s really important to test body scrubs on animals, because that’s what animals are for right? However, you can go buy that $5 scrub in aisle 4 at your local grocery store, which has probably been tested on a variety of animals first!
(Just in case our sarcasm wasn’t obvious enough, we do not test our products on animals, our packaging sums it up nicely)
There you go. Four reasons why our scrub might not be for you fellas. I’m off to scrub off a hard days work.
